Lars Bohman Gallery is very proud to announce Marianna Uutinen’s and Jussi Niva’s first joint exhibition at the gallery.
The two artists come together in this exhibition around a mutual theme, volume and spatiality. The desire to pass the limitations of the painting-medium is a common denominator that unites the two. The material breaks the boundaries of the canvas and the power continues further out into the surrounding space. Jussi Niva's work sticks to the surface-plane. The work radiates tremendous acceleration and movement, which is often enhanced through the usages of multiple panels. Marianna Uutinen has a different take on the spatiality related issues. By allowing the material to take physical, almost sculptural form, she frees the painting from its inherent two-dimensionality and creates a vivid flow of color and form.
