Galleri Lars Bohman is proud to announce the first exhibition at the gallery by Swedish artist Fruls Tilpo. The exhibition consists of a new series of paintings.
Fruls Tilpo's colourful and contrasty paintings express a human feeling and the viewer finds a finely-tuned combination of humour and seriousness, often against a background of political consciousness.
Fruls Tilpo comments on his paintings in this exhibition thus:
In the paintings people and their surrounding are refreshingly mixed.Encounters that are often charged and surprising, with a serious undertone. The images are frequently political and display a drastic humour. These new paintings deal with black and white people. The Law and the Book - Logos and our need to provide a scapegoat. The goat is present in several works. The paintings also include a recurring self biographical element that tells of Mr and Mrs Tilpo's life as a gypsy couple in a multicultural world.
This is Fruls Tilpo's first exhibition in Stockholm since the exhibition Pontus Hulténs Collection at Moderna Museet in the spring of 2004.
Born in 1960 in Stockholm, Fruls Tilpo lives and works in Stockholm and Paris. He attended the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm (1981-1986). Fruls Tilpo has had several solo exhibitions in Sweden and abroad. He is represented in Sweden at, among others, Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Gothenburg Art Museum; Malmö, Konstmuseum; Fredric Roos Nordic Collection, Malmö; Borås Konstmusuem; Gävle Konstmuseum; Bohusläns Museum and the National Public Art Council of Sweden.
