The exhibition, Cire perdue by Dan Wolgers, his ninth at the gallery, consists of a series of bronze sculptures.

The models of the sculptures are small figures and objects that the artists has found in different places and kept as inspiration over the years. Dan Wolgers has reworked the models at the bronze foundry and the works have been enlarged, reduced or distorted to finally find their ultimate shape. The exhibition covers several themes and approaches questions concerning birth and life, existence and death, longing and dreams, context and perishableness, consciousness and memories. A catalogue with a short text by the artist has been produced in conjunction with the exhibition.

Dan Wolgers is one of Sweden's most esteemed and controversial contemporary artists. His art is filled with playfulness, intelligence and integrity, and his ability to distort, provoke and retort leaves few viewers untouched. In a well-timed and an unerring way he presents a fresh view of life and seemingly meaningless objects.

Dan Wolgers was born in 1955 in Stockholm, where he lives and works. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm (1980-85) to where he later returned as professor (1995-98). In 2002 he was awarded the prestigious, annual Major Grant Award from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee. Since 1998 Dan Wolgers is member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He is represented at, among others, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Gothenburg, Malmö Konstmuseum, Malmö and Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki.
